![]() The slump should be 4” – 6” unless SUPERPLAST-1000 is used, in which case the slump (plasticity) may be controlled to any range desired, i.e.: 10”+. Use the same water/cement ratio (W/C) with CONEX in the mix as without CONEX. CONEX is calculated as part of the cementituous material, i.e. Portland cement 450 lbs/cu.yd., fly ash 60 lbs/cu.yd., CONEX 41 lbs/cu. yd. = 551 lbs/cu.yd. At a W/C of 0.50, the water content will be 275.5 lbs/cu. yd. CONEX will not cause any slump loss. The concrete will exhibit normal slump loss based upon temperature, mix design, and admixtures in use. CONEX has no affect on air in the concrete. Air entrainment may be controlled using any standard A.E.A. (air entraining agent). CONEX will not affect the setting time of the concrete. Normal set will occur unless influenced by admixtures in use. Normally, there will be an increase in strength when CONEX is used at a given W/C and at the appropriate percentages. However, if the dosage rate should approach or be in excess of 15% to the weight of cementatious, there could be a substantial strength loss due to unrestrained expansion. CONEX may be used in mixes with any admixture meeting ASTM C-494. Wet curing should be used for a minimum period of 48 hours, after which time, a curing/sealing material should be applied. As with any and all concrete, a water cure for a period of 7 days is desirable, although not necessary if a sealant, with a moisture retention greater than 90%, is used. All of these characteristics remain unchanged. Concrete produced with CONEX has as high as a 300% decrease in permeability when a W/C of 0.50 – 0.65 is used. At the same W/C as a normal mix, there is an increase of surface abrasion resistance by as much as 60%. CONEX will counter drying-shrinkage, and with proper design and application, will create a “crack-free” concrete. | What is CONEX | Chemistry | Concrete Characteristics | Facts about SCC | CONEX & Floor Slabs | Pre-Stressed | Links | | Return Home | CONEX | Projects | What's New | Our Services | Contact Us | |
